Learn from one of the greats

I have been a teacher longer than I have been a casting director, starting with teaching at Cal State Long Beach’s theatre department where I taught acting and directing. Casting dynamically informs my teaching.

TESTIMONIALS

“Deb Barylski our casting director—and a woman to whom I’m deeply indebted—said, “I’ve got the guy: Will Arnett. He’s coming in next week.” She had Jessica Walter on tape ready to go, too. And of course, Will came in and completely nailed it. I mean, after weeks of it not working as we’d hoped and suddenly it’s so beyond what we’d hoped for! Deb saved the show with those two people.”

Creator - Arrested Development
“The woman who cast that show, Deb Barylski was casting the [Arrested Development] pilot, and when I was fired from Still Standing, she had sent me a really lovely note saying that she thought it was unfair that my character was cut. The next spring, when I got this call that they were looking for the guy, Deb Barylski had called and said, “I really think that Will should come in for this.” And I had such a tremendous amount of respect for her.”
